We are glad to introduce MIMO BAKE STUDIO, a new concept of baked goods in the Northern California . Our products are homemade, fresh, and inspired by traditional, artisan recipes maintained through generations in Brazil.

About us

The idea of creating MIMO started from a casual talk between two friends during the Pandemic. We had met a couple of years before, and we couldn't believe how many beautiful coincidences we had in our lives if that existed.

We were two moms with new babies looking for motherhood support. Through a Facebook Bay Area Mom's Group, other friends linked us to each other. Not only did we have babies at the same age, but we also discovered that we were originally from the same country, Brazil, in the same city, Recife, even though we studied at the same school. Of course, we had mutual friends, and likely shared some childhood moments too.

During the challenging times of the Pandemic, we missed everything; family and friends that couldn't visit us and the trips to Brazil. We felt nostalgic for our local culture, festivities, and, mainly, the exquisite Brazilian food.

A friendship born out of a need to overcome homesickness became something more splendid. We had the same dream of starting a women-owned business based in the Northern California. A company built with our mutual desire to bring our most loved Brazilian-inspired delicacies to our local market.

"MIMO" means, in the Portuguese Language, affection, special attention from one to another, a present MADE WITH LOVE. Furthermore, not accidentally, it is the name short of our names. MI (Mirella) and MO (Monique).

  • About the "MI" of MIMO

    Hi there! I'm Mirella Maruza.

    I'm so excited to finally introduce myself to you. I'm a proud mom of two, a loving spouse, and a Marketing Specialist with a deep passion for what I do. For over a decade, I dedicated my career to helping businesses like Walmart and Nestlé in Brazil understand their customers and grow their brands. It was an intense journey that took me all over the country, studying customer behavior and crafting strategies.

    In 2015, I made a bold decision that surprised even my husband—I moved to America to embrace motherhood fully and, eventually, to create something of my own. That "something" is Mimo Bake Studio, my third child and a project straight from my heart. At Mimo, I’m the one behind the scenes, bringing my marketing expertise to the table and ensuring that everything we do is infused with love and creativity.

    Music is my constant companion—I sing and listen to music while I work because the energy it brings is unbeatable. Home decor is another passion of mine, and I channel that love into creating the beautiful imagery you see at Mimo. Above all, family is my top priority. Watching my kids grow and spending time with them fills me with joy.

    Mimo Bake Studio is more than just a business; it’s a dream come true. My goal is to not only delight your taste buds with our yummy treats but also to create moments of joy and new experiences for you to cherish.

    Hello everyone, welcome to Mimo!

    I am Monique, and I live in Northern California along with my family. I love water sports, skiing, nature and animals among other things. Our life in the US started many years ago in the San Francisco Bay Area, finally settling in the Sacramento County where we found a great community to call home and neighbors to call friends.

    With a BS in Civil Engineering in Brazil, I have worked on a diversity of projects, leading to a successful and passionate career in engineering and Shopping Center management both in Brazil and in the US. Little I knew that my passion for our delicious and diverse Brazilian cuisine would lead me to a different path. After noting a lack of Brazilian food offers outside of Brazilian communities, a new dream started to flourish and became true when MI and MO met during one of our little ones' playdates in the Bay Area. Funny fact: MI and MO, besides coming from the same city, going to the same Elementary, Middle and High schools, and having many common friends in Brazil, also share the same passion for our delicacies. The cherry on the top? Our short names when put together, means something special, from our heart. This is how MIMO started, with a mission and commitment of bringing a unique and memorable experience to our customers and friends, a special taste of Brazil.

    MIMO is now born and ready to serve you, bringing the Brazilian flavors and warmth to your hearts!
